Apart from providing the community with information and advice around all things property, there is a more significant role that Professionals agents undertake as part of their day to day responsibilities. They are soldiers for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and their goal of achieving zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.
In September 2009, Professionals had raised $1 million – today they have reached over $2.1 million dollars and that figure is growing every day. Not only do Professionals participate in charity auctions, community events, fundraising campaigns and selling Pink Ribbon merchandise, they also donate funds from every property sold to help support breast cancer research.
Every October Professionals also gear up for a “pink-out” to further increase awareness and fundraising efforts to support NBCF.
“Professionals are proud to go Pink,” Chairman of Professionals Service Centre Carl Petersen said. “It has become so much more than fundraising – it’s a part of our culture as a group.”
As Professionals turn a certain shade of pink this October, one in nine women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. It is a disease that can strike anyone, at any age – sisters, mothers, friends and daughters alike. By 2015, 15,409 women are projected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia – an average of 42 women every day.
