When to increase the rent of your investment property

If you’re a landlord, then it’s likely that at some stage you’re going to want to increase the rent of your investment property. This is something that needs to be well thought out, as there are a number of factors that will determine whether the increase is justified and whether it will work for you rather than against.

To start with, we recommend you speak with your Property Manager. They will be knowledgeable on the local market, and will be aware of the current demand for rental properties and what rate other properties are currently tenanted at. These are key factors in determining what rental return is right for your property.

Other things that will be considered are any improvements that may have been made to your property, such as additional facilities like air-conditioning, or any renovations that have been made.
